How to take care of your skin at Christmas?

As always…you know…with consistency, love, and the right products.

Taking care of your skin during the holiday season is essential, as the cold, dry winter weather, alongside external factors like indoor heating, can affect your skin’s hydration and overall health.

Here are sometips to keep in mind:

HYDRATION:

All skin needs hydration appropriate to its characteristics on both face and body.

Dry skins require greaser lotions to help us retain water, and more oily skins need non-comedogenic moisturizers such as hyaluronic acid.

Don’t forget to moisturize your lips as well, as they are very delicate in the cold and dry winter weather. Doing so will keep them fresh and chap-free.

Your hands are always on display and suffer from rough weather, so it is vital to moisturize them properly and protect them with gloves whenever possible.

Tip to take care of your hands: in the evening, clean your hands and apply deep-moisturizing hand cream. Put each hand inside a plastic bag and tie it at the wrist so the hands remain inside. This procedure, called “tinny sauna“, will help you keep the skin of your hands hydrated and beautiful.

SUN PROTECTION:

Even in winter, it is vital to protect the skin from the sun because, although the sun’s rays are more oblique and do not penetrate as deeply into the skin, they still stimulate melanin and, with it, the spots. They also speed up the aging process by damaging the collagen in our skin, which gives us elasticity.

GENTLE EXFOLIATION:

Exfoliating the skin two to three times a week helps to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, the so-called horny layer. Removing this layer of dead skin enables the products’ active ingredients to penetrate the skin better.

If, in addition to gentle exfoliation, we add the application of retinol at least two to three times a week, we will increase the regeneration of our collagen, which will come with a skin rejuvenation effect. It is also a regulator of oil production in oil-prone skins.

HUMIDIFY YOUR HOME AND YOUR FACE:

Setting small water containers on radiators will help keep your home’s ambient moisture. Likewise, if you sprinkle moisturizing spray on your face throughout the day, your skin will stay hydrated, beautiful, and moisturized as well. Some of this sprays you can carry in your purse or pocket and are helpful during the winter.

USE GOOD QUALITY MAKEUP:

The makeup you use must be appropriate for your skin. If you have an oily skin type, the makeup should be light and, as we said before, “non-comedogenic”.

Remember to remove your makeup completely before going to bed.

How to cleanse your skin properly before going to bed?

First, use a cleansing milk or a biphasic cleanser to remove all traces of makeup, and then cleanse your skin with a non-detergent soap known as “syndet” (without detergent).

GENERAL BODY CARE IDEAS

Avoid steaming baths that deprive you of the natural oils of the skin and favor dehydration. It is better to take warm showers and, if possible, with fish with cooler water as it tones the skin and stimulates our defenses.

Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water or herbal teas. On Christmas, the food is generally copious and not balanced, so we can follow this diet the previous and following days to give rest to our digestive system.

Rest properly to facilitate the regeneration of your skin and your body. It is crucial to counteract an intense day with a good rest.

Finally, a few rudimentary tips for cosmetic skin care:

The best product for your skin is the most suitable for its type, fragility, dryness, oiliness, open pores, and excess sun… That is why a good professional must recommend what products are more suitable for you.

Once you have the right products, know how to apply them, and have an established facial routine, the rest is up to CONSISTENCY AND CARE.

●  Serum always goes under the moisturizer.

When we put sunscreen on, it always goes on top of the other cosmetics we have used. For example, an order might be serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen on top.

When we use retinol, its concentration must be appropriate to our skin type. We also must increase the exposure progressively so that our skin gradually adaptsand we feel less discomfort during the application.

Oily skin also needs moisturizing, but it must be through a product with a composition that does not clog the pores so that it does not generate comedones or pimples. These products are known as NON-COMEDOGENIC cosmetics.

If you need help to learn the most appropriate products for your skin type and the best way to apply them, you can request a consultation with one of our expert cosmetologists. They will examine your skin with our Sylton Observ imaging system and, by looking at the images of the inside of your skin, they will be able to advise you on the most appropriate products.

If you notice that your skin is dehydrated or devitalized, we can offer you the most appropriate medical-aesthetic treatment. Hydration techniques such as PROFHILO, REGENSKIN PLUS, IPL, REGENVITAL and HYDRAFACIAL can be helpful. Let our doctors and specialists advise you on how to get the best results for your skin.
