What type of toxin is it, and how does it work?
Unlike the conventional alternatives available on the market—which are all based on serotype A—this innovative drug uses serotype E.
Both serotypes work by temporarily inhibiting the release of acetylcholine to relax the overactive muscles that cause expression lines, but they do so through different molecular mechanisms. Traditional type A toxins cleave the SNAP-25 protein deeply, resulting in a prolonged block lasting several months.
In contrast, type E toxin cleaves a different portion of the same protein, resulting in ultra-rapid onset of its effects and a much faster return to natural muscle function.

The primary indication authorized by regulatory agencies, such as the European Medicines Agency (EMA), is the temporary treatment of moderate to severe glabellar lines—the vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows when frowning—in adult patients.
